Champagne Shootout X
After the introspection following Champange Shootout IX change came to The Champange Shootout.
Not only was the bi-annual format abandoned, but the competition itself was reworked and expanded.
Newly introduced for Champagne Shootout X were the installation of team captains and a live draft. In addition to the familiar 6-6-6 session an afternoon Par-3 matchplay session was added. Hawks View Golf Club in Lake Geneva, WI was chosen to host the first edition of the revamped Champange Shootout.
Following a convivial practice round; dentist and Shooter, Dr. Drew Partridge, DDS, hosted 24 Shooters as well as a raucus band of supports in Powers Lake for the live draft event, headlined by DJ Mantas.
The following day, June 8th, 2024, proved a nightmare as unseasonably cold temperatures, whipping win and driving rain played havoc on the unsuspecting field. Founder/President and Team Red captain, Tom Campbell, and his team battled the elements to put in an imperious performance, trouncing Champagne Shootout Director and Team Blue captain, Paul Thibaudeau, and Team Blue by the score of 12-4. Due to the lopsided nature of the competition and foul weather, the afternoon Par-3 matchplay session was abandoned.
