Champagne Shootout VIII
June 3rd, 2023 saw the Champagne Shootout return to it’s rightful home, Sunset Valley Golf Course. Needless to say, the boys were buzzing. Champagne Shootout VIII saw not only the largest field to date of 28 shooters, but also was the first to feature an expansion from 18 to 27 holes. The traditional 6-6-6 format gave way to a fuller, more robust 9-9-9. Any and all pre-Shootout concerns regarding said expansion were put at ease as the shooters settled in for a long day on the course.
At first glance the 16-7 win for Team Blue would indicate a drubbing, but further examination of the leaderboard shows that a total difference of 17 strokes over 7 individual matches (189 total holes) resulted in an 11 hole advantage for Team Blue. Team Blue were flattered by the scoreline, but were ultimately deserved winners.
